Characteristics of the Migration Process
Welcome to this fourth module on mental health at work and the adaptation process in the context of migration.
Integrating into a socio-professional environment is not just a question of technical or even social skills. These skills are obviously essential to acquire and develop, especially when one is not familiar with the social environment. When you migrate, this is already a first challenge!
On the other hand, this migratory process confronts the person who experiences it with a series of challenges of a different order. The person who migrates sees his or her psychological equilibrium upset by circumstances, attitudes, etc. that he or she is not familiar with and that he or she must manage simultaneously. It is the simultaneity of these stressors to be managed that places the person in a delicate situation. Depending on their personality, their past, in short, their personal resources, they will cope more or less well or not at all.
The modules on mental health specifically address the different stress factors that everyone encounters in the migration process. They also suggest ways to deal with them in order to make the best use of one’s professional skills in a new environment.
